Privacy policy
OrderColor works inside your browser. It reads the rows already shown in your Shopify admin and keeps your rules in Chrome. We do not collect, sell or share data about you, your store, your orders or your customers.
The short version
- The extension never calls Shopify’s APIs, makes no network requests of its own and sends nothing from your admin to anyone.
- Your rules are stored in Chrome’s extension storage: on your device, and in your Chrome sync data if sync is on.
- The only outside service is ExtensionPay, which sells the optional Pro plan. The extension contacts it only after you open the upgrade or restore page.
- This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address to tell you when OrderColor opens.
What the extension reads
OrderColor runs only in your Shopify admin: on admin.shopify.com, and on your store’s own address under /admin (your-store.myshopify.com/admin). It acts only on the Orders list, and on Pro the Products and Customers lists. On those pages it reads the text of the rows already shown, such as tags, destination, total, fulfillment and payment status, notes shown in the list and product status, and compares it with your rules.
What it reads stays in the page. It is not saved and not sent anywhere.
What the extension stores
| Data | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your color rules: conditions, values, colors, badge text and switches | Chrome extension storage (chrome.storage.sync): on your device and, if Chrome sync is on, in your Google account’s Chrome sync data | So your rules persist and follow your Chrome profile |
| Whether Pro is active, and when that was last checked | Chrome extension storage (chrome.storage.local), on your device only | So the extension knows which features to unlock without asking every time |
| ExtensionPay’s records: the date you installed; a random key for this installation, created when you first open the upgrade or restore page; and the subscription details ExtensionPay sends back (whether you have paid, your plan and its dates, and the email address you paid with) | Chrome extension storage (chrome.storage.sync), written by the ExtensionPay library inside the extension | So ExtensionPay can recognize this installation and tell OrderColor whether Pro is active |
The ExtensionPay records exist only once OrderColor Pro is on sale. Until then the extension never starts the ExtensionPay library and never contacts ExtensionPay.
Nothing about your orders, products, customers or pages is stored. A rules export you choose to download is a plain JSON file holding only your rules, saved where you choose. When you remove the extension, Chrome deletes everything above.
What leaves your browser
Nothing from the Shopify admin. The extension makes no network requests of its own, never calls Shopify’s APIs and never changes anything in your store.
ExtensionPay, for the optional Pro plan. OrderColor uses the ExtensionPay library (extensionpay.com) to sell Pro. Until you open the upgrade or restore page, it contacts no one. After that, it asks extensionpay.com whether your subscription is active, sending the extension’s identifier and the random key above; like any web request, this also shows extensionpay.com your IP address.
Payments. You pay on ExtensionPay’s and Stripe’s own pages. Your email address and card details go to them, under their own privacy policies (ExtensionPay’s policy). OrderColor never sees your card details. We can see the email address and subscription of people who pay, in order to run billing and answer support questions.
No analytics, tracking or ads. No analytics library, no telemetry, no error-reporting service and no remote code.
Permissions
- storage: to save your rules and whether Pro is active.
- Access to admin.shopify.com and your-store.myshopify.com/admin: to read and restyle list rows in your Shopify admin. Both are needed because stores open the admin under either address. The extension runs on no other site, and never on your storefront.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
OrderColor’s use of information follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. In plain terms:
- Information is used only to color and badge list rows for you, the extension’s single purpose, and to run the optional Pro plan.
- It is never sold, and never used or transferred for advertising, to decide creditworthiness or for lending, or for anything else unrelated to that purpose.
- No person at Tenhatch reads what the extension sees in your admin: it never leaves your browser.
- It is transferred only as described on this page (to ExtensionPay and Stripe, for payments), to keep the service secure, when the law requires it, or to a new owner as described below.
This website
No cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. ordercolor.com sets no cookies and loads nothing from other companies; its fonts are served from this site.
Server logs. The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel records standard request logs (IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time) to deliver and protect the site, and keeps them for a limited time under its own privacy policy.
The waitlist. If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, that you asked about OrderColor, when you joined, and that you ticked the consent box. We use it to email you once when OrderColor opens, and again only if you ask. You can unsubscribe from any email, or ask us to delete your address at any time. The list is kept by Tenhatch with our hosting, database and email-delivery providers, who handle it only on our behalf.
Email. If you email us, we use your address and message to reply, and keep them as long as we need to handle what you asked.
Your choices
You can change or delete your rules in the popup at any time, or remove the extension to delete everything it stored. To get a copy of, or delete, your waitlist entry or your emails with us, write to support@tenhatch.com. We answer within 30 days, usually much sooner. People in California have these rights under California law; we give them to everyone.
Children
OrderColor is a tool for people who run Shopify stores and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we post the new version here with a new effective date. A change that concerns the extension also ships with the next extension update.
